The Laboratory Technician oversees all operations in the labs, workshops, and studios, including conducting research, supervising students, assisting with lab experiments, and ensuring lab safety protocols are followed. The role is to manage and maintain additive and subtractive manufacturing systems, including robotic arms, CNC machines, 3D multijet printers, and laser cutting technologies The technician also familiarizes new staff with safety equipment locations and support research and innovation projects, assist researchers and students in prototyping, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Additionally, the technician handles record­ keeping, shipping, ordering, and inventory management.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots robotic anns, CNC machines, 3D printers, and laser cutting systems.
• Works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to prototype and execute innovative experiments to involve contributing expertise to design experiments and improve methodologies.
• Assist in prototyping and fabrication for research and industry projects.
• Supervises students while working in the laboratories and/or workshops and take care of laboratory development and operations.
• Prepares research materials, including equipment setup and supplies.
• Ensures laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and functioning and assists with procuring additional laboratory supplies
• Adheres to all safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
• Prepares reports, presentations, and protocols.
• Manages inventory, calibrations, and system upgrades for lab equipment to keep workshop supplies ready.by inventory stock, placing orders and providing receipts.
• Provides technical support to researchers and students on how to use the lab and/or workshop in a safe manner and implements safety protocols and ensure compliance with lab regulations.
• Conducts tutorial sessions in the lab and/or workshop.
• Assists in documenting lab procedures, maintaining records of experiments, helping students prepare reports, and marking students reports if needed.
• Conducts regular self-inspections of all equipment to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and to familiarize new staff with the location of safety equipment.
• Posts and maintains regular office hours to ensure accessibility to colleagues and students for advisement and consultation.
• Performs all other duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.
• Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by manager.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree Ill Engineering, Robotics, Digital Fabrication or equivalent from accredited institute.
• Valid Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) Classification and Registration.
• Minimum of three (03) years' experience with lab management and equipment maintenance, research, data collection, and analysis or other related fields. For master's one year experience.
