Automotive Center Supervisor (CoE#170325)

Overview

The Automotive Center Supervisor plays a critical role in managing the daily operations of the Automotive Center at the college. This position involves overseeing hands-on training, projects, and lab activities for students in both automotive technology and electrical engineering. The supervisor will work closely with faculty, students, and staff to facilitate learning experiences, supervise the use of automotive equipment, and ensure safety protocols are followed. This role also supports students in completing their capstone projects and aids in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining, parts testing, and the design and fabrication of electrical components for automotive applications.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages day-to-day activities in the Automotive Center, ensuring the proper functioning of the facilities, equipment, and student projects to ensure that all activities align with academic and safety standards
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to students, helping them materialize their capstone projects by offering technical expertise, facilitating access to necessary tools and equipment, and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Conducts tests on parts, components, and vehicles manufactured within the center to ensure functionality, performance, and safety compliance, in coordination with student learning goals.
  • Collaborates with faculty and students to design and fabricate electrical components for vehicles, ensuring the integration of electrical systems with automotive projects
  • Supports students and staff in CNC machining operations by supervising their work, offering technical advice, and ensuring quality of parts produced.
  • Enforces safety protocols and ensure the Automotive Center is compliant with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Conducts regular safety checks and educate students on safe practices while working with machinery and automotive systems.
  • Assists faculty with lab setups, equipment maintenance, and student supervision to provide technical support for instructors during class activities and practical sessions.
  • Maintains and organizes the inventory of automotive parts, tools, and equipment to ensure that all tools and machinery are in proper working condition and available for student use.
  • Supervises students while working in the laboratories and/or workshops and take care of laboratory development and operations.
  • Prepares research materials, including equipment setup and supplies.
  • Performs all duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.
  • Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by the manager.

Qualifications And Competencies

Education/ Certificates
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent from accredited institute. A master’s degree is preferable.
Professional Experience
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in electromechanical maintenance or related fields. (For Master degree (4) years of experience.
