The Business Development will support the growth and expansion of the Business Center by identifying new opportunities, fostering strategic partnerships, and assisting in the execution of business initiatives. This role involves market research, stakeholder engagement, proposal development, and project coordination to drive revenue generation and commercialize the university’s research, consultancy, and training services. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to business development.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Identifies and pursues new business opportunities, partnerships, and funding sources to support the Center’s strategic objectives.
- Supports the development and implementation of business strategies aligned with the Business Center’s goals.
- Conducts market research on industry trends, competitors, and potential clients to inform strategic planning.
- Contributes to the preparation of business proposals, research/consultancy proposals, and partnership agreements.
- Coordinates and tracks proposal submissions, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with client requirements.
- Gathers and synthesizes input from internal departments to support proposal development and business cases.
- Prepares strategic reports, performance analytics, and financial summaries for internal and leadership review.
- Supports revenue tracking, budget monitoring, and analysis of financial performance related to business development.
- Builds and maintains relationships with potential clients, sponsors, governmental entities, and academic partners.
- Responds to client inquiries and coordinates follow-ups to nurture and convert business leads.
- Plans and organizes meetings, networking events, and presentations to foster engagement and partnerships.
- Assists in the planning and execution of business development events, training sessions, and conferences.
- Handles event logistics, participant registration, and on-site engagement to ensure smooth operations.
- Collaborates with internal teams to ensure seamless execution of outreach and business development activities.
- Assists in the development of marketing materials such as brochures, presentations, and digital content.
- Coordinates promotional campaigns and tracks engagement to measure the impact of outreach efforts.
- Maintains and updates the Business Center’s website and manages its presence on social media platforms.
- Analyzes marketing and outreach metrics to assess campaign effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Maintains a central repository of business development materials, templates, case studies, and records.
- Monitors project performance and recommends improvements to enhance operational efficiency of the department.
- Performs all other duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.
- Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by the manager.
Qualifications And Competencies
Education/ Certificates
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Information Technology, or equivalent from accredited institute.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience project management, or business development role, preferably within an academic or university environment or other related fields.
