Job Summary
The Research & Innovation Supervisor's role involves supporting and assisting the Research & Innovation Office. Also, will also be in charge of updating and implementing office policies and procedures, as well as managing funded projects for all faculty members. It is important to ensure compliance with all Alfaisal policies and regulations, especially those related to research projects.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists the Associate Vice President of Graduate School, Research & Innovation to develop the departments’ strategies, objectives, and goals.
- Oversees liaison between the ORI team members and others in the University to ensure effective communication on research projects, activities, publications, and financial spending.
- Establishes and maintains collaborative and effective partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the research meets business objectives.
- Develops and maintains a database of emerging technologies and consumer and competitor trends, focusing on innovation to ensure this information is current and available to others.
- Handles the Science and Technology Unit, which deals with all external research projects for faculty, such as monitoring the budget and processing spending/purchases.
- Prepares financial reports send letters to external institutions for their approvals, and coordinates with them to ensure their requirements are fulfilled.
- Maintains all external research projects to ensure they technically and financially follow the rules and regulations of that funding agency.
- Controls and oversees the Internal Research Grant (IRG) competition, including announcements, selection criteria, preparing contracts for IRG winners, budget, and reports, and maintaining a hard copy and a soft copy of all spending.
- Supervises the financial aspects of external Competitions such as Formula Car, Shell Eco-Marathon Car, and GCC Robotics in coordination with faculty leaders.
- Assists in preparing ORI Annual Reports, achievements presentations, and operational plans yearly.
- Analyses data and creates reliable tools that Data Scientists can use to enhance students using intelligent technology.
- Develops proposals for external funding initiatives and works on external funders system if required.
- Benchmarks new initiatives and prepares memos and letters as needed.
- Looks after the manpower plan of the Office and reports of existing collaborators.
- Performs all other duties in a professional, effective, and confidential manner.
- Performs all other related duties as required or assigned by the manager.
Education Licenses / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Business Administration, or equivalent from an accredited institute.
- Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in a research institution or related field.
